Beatitudes of a Family Genealogist
Blessed are the great-grandfathers, who saved
embarkation and citizenship papers, for they tell
WHEN they came.
Blessed are the great-grandmothers, who hoarded
newspaper clippings and old letters, for they tell
the STORY of their time.
Blessed are the grandfathers, who filled every legal
document, for these provide the PROOF.
Blessed are the grandmothers, who preserved family
Bibles and diaries, for these are our HERITAGE.
Blessed are fathers, who elect officials that answer letters
of inquiry, for--to some--the ONLY LINK to the past.
Blessed are mothers, who relate family TRADITIONS
and LEGENDS to the family, for one of her
children will surely remember.
Blessed are relatives, who fill in family sheets with extra
data, for to them we owe our FAMILY HISTORY.
Blessed is any family, whose members strive for the
PRESERVATION of RECORDS, for this is a
labor of love.
Blessed are the children who will never say,
"Grandma, you told that old story twice today."

Genealogy is amazing, just pick up your calculator and calculate the amount of ancestors you have when you go 24 generations back.
Here you see how to calculate that:
your parents 2 (1 generation back) = 2^1
+ your grand parents 4 (2 generations back) = 2^2
+ your grand grand parents = 8 (3 generations back) = 2^3
+ your g.g.g parents = 16 (4 generations back) = 2^4
and then when you come 24 generations back, amount of ancestors:
2^1 + 2^2 + 2^3 + 2^4 + 2^5 + 2^6 + 2^7 + 2^8 + 2^9 + 2^10 + 2^11 + 2^12 + 2^13 + 2^14 + 2^15 + 2^16 + 2^17 + 2^18 + 2^19 + 2^20 + 2^21 + 2^22 + 2^23 + 2^24 = 33 554 430
and that is just your ancestors when we add the numbers of siblings and their children to those? The conclusion....we are all related.
A computer is perfect to keep all the informations available so i created AgetoAgeSqlite and here is some screnshots from it.
Have a nice day!
